Book Review : Lovely bones - Alice Sebold

Lovely Bones is a story of a young girl's life after death. She narrates the story from heaven. It is the story of her family , her neighbors and few friends whom she loved.
The rape and murder of the eldest daughter of the family leaves the family in shock. A shock which was hard to get over. She narrates how each of her  family members behaved and her emotions whenever she was mentioned. The first kiss she had with a boy she loved and  her younger sister kissing for the first time. How her parents get separated and how they reunite again. How her killer is not caught and how fate kills him.
An interesting read , though not that great  a book.

"These were the lovely bones that had grown around my absence: the connections — sometimes tenuous, sometimes made at great cost, but often magnificent — that happened after I was gone. And I began to see things in a way that let me hold the world without me in it. The events my death brought were merely the bones of a body that would become whole at some unpredictable time in the future. The price of what I came to see as this miraculous lifeless body had been my life"

Game On

The last game was soon going to be over , people standing outside  were counting the minutes and anytime could have been the last move and probably the last time we four (Moli, Dedh , Danda and me ) would be playing together.
But, the light went off and good that  the Game never ended.

" Between, a day of tears , some cried alone, some had an audience but everyone present today had watery eyes"

The catcher in the Rye - J.D. Salinger- Book Review

I would rate this one as a depressing book but much less than ,"The God of small things." Probably the controversies and the Honors(2005- Times magazine -100 best novels written since 1923 and  it was named by Modern Library and its readers as one of the 100 best English-language novels of the 20th century.)

It's hard to like someone like Holden Claufield.I could associate few things but not all. Especially the part where he calls each and everything in this world as phony. It is not easy to get kicked out of schools again and again and the most difficult part is to face your parents after that.A night when he could stand no more and just walks out of his school to New York. His stay at New York and all his attempts to get over his depression.

You can read this book for a completely different experience and to understand how mind can drift.
