Book Review

Book : The Fountainhead
Author: Ayn Rand
Written by Ayn Rand in 1943 , a total classic which has enthralled me . In fact the book has traveled a long way since it has been published . It has been included as a course book in many universities and lots of review books are there in the market. Not only this a movie dedicated to this book has been made .

Rightly so the book has been named fountainhead because it signifies that "Man's ego is the fountainhead of human progress."
The book argues that how every change to the society has been brought by sacrifice and lots of pain. When man first discovered fire he was considered as a evildoer but subsequently it became a tool of their progress . So was the case with wheel and any new venture . Through out the centuries there were men who took first step down new roads armed with nothing but their own vision. So is the story of the protagonist of this novel " Horward Roark ."His fight against the whole lot of architects, press and common man who cannot take new changes as it comes. A philosophical book which is bound to bear an impact on you. A must read for every one.

Fart Ki Jai Ho

Today climbing the stairs to my room I was accompanied by Mama. In fact most of the times whenever some dual is with me he cribs about the top floor and i generally have my part of fun with them. So was it , he was complaining about the pain when you have to climb so many times a day .

I replied " Mama jante ho humne top floor kyoun liya , isliye ki aapko humesha ehsaas rahe ki bilkul neeche se sabse upar uthne ke liye kitna pain lena padta hai "

Life On The Other Side

The placement season has begun and so has the loads of ppts . It was in one such workshop organized by Delloite that I realized something . The speaker was a XLRI gold medalist and he did make the boring topic of emotional intelligence quite interesting . I don't know how much the workshop was useful but there was something which made me write this post .There was some 3 questions which we had to answer at one go writing out the first thought that comes to your mind .

When do you feel the most happy ?
My ans : While playing footer .

When do you feel embarrassed ?
My ans : Whenever I visit my village .

Now wait a moment how did this thought come to me ? Then I thought ya it should have come . I belong to a remote village in Bihar . I left it to pursue my studies when I was very young. But I still have friends there who were not luckier like me . It was not luck but poverty that kept them there . To say the village boasts of a primary school but sometimes there are no teachers or when there are teachers there are no books. The contradiction is strange , Children in town at a particular age start exploring malls , mobiles , amusement parks and childhood ends for some in villages.Either they help parents in the fields or work in quarrys in near by towns , or a small line hotel . Then what happens is hard to think of . Their life becomes stagnant , monotonous and the most shocking thing is they never have no other option. It is really sick when i meet some of my village friends and find that they are waiters in some hotel. Then the realization, the embarrassment comes in . All the education seems worthless at a juncture . How can the system be so cruel that lives of millions of people remains pathetic all through their lives . Some serious thoughts then creep in . Is it worth the effort , are we contributing anything to the society .May be its getting late . It is not something that i can do alone but ya I will certainly make a start.

Eating Out

" The no of times you dine out is directly proportional to the Semester you are in ."

Eating habits have changed so much in the last 4 years for me. There was a time when I never missed mess food. Gradually I started packing Friday dinner and now the no of times I eat outside is more than the times I eat in mess.

It was Onam today and I had a strange idea of eating in a mallu restaurant . I asked my conti's and reached a place called "Kumarakom".This is situated very close to vijanagar bus stand velachery and very close to IIT .However the place was too full with lot's of people waiting . As I was very hungry so I decided to find other destinations . I was amazed to find out so many hangouts in the road connecting taramani to vijaynagar bus stand . I had an idea of the place called Khana Makaan and decided to grub there. The food was as usual great . On my way back I was amazed to find a chain of food outlets like The Dhaba , Dominos , Kebabs hi kebabs ,and many more on a single road .

So if you are planning to eat out and a place not very far from college just pick up your cycles and come on this road , you are bound to find a good place to eat . Meanwhile you can always in invite me .

Next destination on my list is Punnu da Dhaba Thoraipakkam, Old Mahabalipuram Road, Chennai.

Teachings Buddha

A myriad bubbles were floating on the surface of a stream. 'What are you?' I cried to

them as they drifted by. 'I am a bubble, of course' nearly a myriad bubbles answered,

and there was surprise and indignation in their voices as they passed. But, here and

there, a lonely bubble answered, 'We are this stream', and there was neither surprise

nor indignation in their voices, but just a quiet certitude.
