One of the most fascinating things of living together for 4 years is that you can recognize your wing mates by the sound of their footsteps .

Chrstiano Ronaldo

From humble beginnings, Cristiano Ronaldo has become to be regarded by many as the best footballer in the world.

He was born Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro on February 5th, 1985. Cristiano was the youngest of four children. His mother Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro was a cook and his father José Dinis Aveiro, a gardener. The family lived in a dilapidated shack in the working class district of Funchal in Madeira. The name Ronaldo came about because the young boy’s father was a big fan of actor, later to be become President of the United States of America, Ronald Reagan.

As a boy Cristiano Ronaldo supported Benfica who were the arch-rivals of the team he later played for. He was absolutely obsessed with football and even played and practiced with fruit if there was no football available. He would sometimes lie about his homework just to play football a bit longer.

Ronaldo’s first club was an amateur side Andorinha. His father was kit man for the club. Ronaldo’s determination to succeed was such that he would sometimes burst into tears if he misplaced a pass or gave the ball away. However, his talent was immediately apparent, and two local professional clubs, CS Maritimo and CD Nacional were eager to sign the ten year old Ronaldo. He spent two years with Nacional helping them win the title in his second season. It was then that Sporting Lisbon offered the young Ronaldo a trial. This meant that the young footballer had to live away from his parents as he had to go and stay in Lisbon. However he wanted to experience better coaching and develop as a player with a bigger club.

Sporting Lisbon have some of the world’s best facilities for young players. Here Ronaldo thrived and managed to impress his fellow players with his skills. At the end of one game his teammates swarmed round to congratulate the talented player, such was his impact on the game. He was often teased because of his Madeiran accent, but it only served to make him stand up for himself. Jose Mourinho watched Ronaldo play for Sporting Lisbon’s youth team and was amazed at his skill, and speed and his technique.

It was here that he started to perfect his trademark ’stepover’ trick. In one season Ronaldo developed through the Under 16s, Under 17s, Under 18s, B-team and then first team, such was the speed that he was developing at. He scored three times in twenty five games during his first two seasons. However, his main chance came during a friendly against Manchester United. He terrorized United’s players down the wing to such an extent that at half time United’s players were asking Sir Alex Ferguson to sign him. This happened soon after and Cristiano Ronaldo was on a journey that would see him crowned FIFA 2008 World Player of the Year.

Book Review :It's Not About The Bike , MyJourney Back To Life.

Book Name :It's not about the bike My Journey Back To Life.
Author: Lance Armstrong.
“Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.”
As is written on the cover of the book ,"Lance Armstrong's Story is the stuff of legends."

When a healthy man who has been wining races is suddenly informed that he is suffering from testicular cancer his life gets shattered.Especially if you are diagnosed of tumors in the brain too and the odds of survival are really low. The story of his life is not about winning "Tour De France" instead the whole fight was against cancer. On the hospital bed he became a different man , a man who started thinking about his life seriously. Luckily medically everything went fine with him but his determination was crucial for his survival. But the battle against cancer had just begun.
It took a lot of effort to convince him that he could race again. At one stage he lost it completely and resorted to drinking beer and food . But friends and family played their part and he started again. A practice session changed it all and he believed it was coming back. He practised hard and went on to win the toughest race "Tour De France" I tell you this is one book that is a must read.

To quote a paragraph from the book,"I had learned what it means to ride The Tour De France. It's not about the bike. It's a metaphor for life, not only the longest race in the world but also most exalting and heartbreaking and potentially tragic. It poses every conceivable element to the rider, and more : cold, heat , mountains , planes ,flat tires, high winds, unthinkable beauty, yawning ,senselessness, and above all greed . During our life we are placed with so many setbacks, and fight such a hand to hand battle with failure , head down in the rain , just try to stay upright and have a little hope. The Tour is not just a bike race it tests you physically , it tests you mentally , and even tests you morally.

I also Watched some videos and here goes a link to one of those : http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=-JADUnW1VvE

Book Review : The White Tiger

Title : The White Tiger
Author : Aravind Adiga

If this would have been written in IITM it would have been named as "The White Deer."The story revolves around a village boy who goes on to become an entrepreneur. But his rise to glory had a dark route. The author brings out the darkness in the lives of poor all through the pages of the book. Some of the citations like

" The dreams of the poor and the dreams of the rich - they never overlap , do they ?
See the poor dream all their lives of getting enough to eat and looking like the rich . And
what do
the rich dream of ? Loosing weight and looking like the poor."

are really touching. So read the story of Balram Halwai : Servant, philosopher , entrepreneur and murdrer.

I quote here my favorite line from the book

" I was looking for the key for years
But the door was always open. "

The i-pod and my Mom

Mummy has always been a friend to me , especially because she was the non- working member of the family. To be very frank I have never watched a movie with my friends in my school life , all the movies that I saw was with my mom ( Except the ones I bunked school and saw, that does not come on record.) She was the one who conveyed all my demands and wants to father. Once I got an approval from her that father agrees to my idea then I would peacefully talk to Dad but if the situation was grim then "mummy please."

I always had this love for music and wanted to buy a music system during my school days but could not get it. The result was that I prepared for JEE listening to the VividBharti on my radio as there was no FM in my city then.

But after clearing JEE I made my mom promise an i-pod , but it was replaced by the Nokia 1100 . Then all through 4 years some expense or the other made it impossible. But after getting placed I convinced mother and she sent me 3000 bucks for the Apple Shuffle.

Yeah I am happy!

Placement Blues

The placement season was a great experience , especially due to the prevailing financial crisis. An interesting display of the fact was evident in junta's status messages and some of them were really worth noting. So here are some of the status messages :

Naval bubble burst.

The only thing I have gained in last 5 years is weak eyesight- can't even join Indian army.

Wake me up when a short list comes.

God's must also complaining too, lot busier this year with prayers overload.

Do you think the company will come if we say grub is here.

The Pakistani Government today held a press meet to confirm that the list of most wanted they received from Indian Government was in reality a grocery list.In a weird twist, a student secretary from a reputed institution in Chennai Gargled out, " I take full responsibility for whatever happened."A mite too late, we say.

I can't laugh......I can't cry either............ see I can't do anything....yeh world hai na world yeh mere layak nahi hai...

HR's somehow devoleped antipathy against aero dept.when someone asked why?they simply answered we want someone who can run the company but not to fly it.

7 days not a single meta guy placed!

Right now It's not about a dream job but about dream for a job.

Finally ananya has a job.

Aankh band hi nahi hote , nain sookhte hi nahin.

Less Job= Job Less - Commutative Law

if you you felt that the struggle is over, think again

Welcome 2009

I don,t believe in resolutions because I don't want to see a day when the resolution is broken and feel sad. All that I have for the new year is " I will become a better man" and find some cure to procrastination.

New Year was at a resort in Pondi with my beloved friends and the night really rocked together.

Happy New Year Readers !
