Book Review :It's Not About The Bike , MyJourney Back To Life.

Book Name :It's not about the bike My Journey Back To Life.
Author: Lance Armstrong.
“Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.”
As is written on the cover of the book ,"Lance Armstrong's Story is the stuff of legends."

When a healthy man who has been wining races is suddenly informed that he is suffering from testicular cancer his life gets shattered.Especially if you are diagnosed of tumors in the brain too and the odds of survival are really low. The story of his life is not about winning "Tour De France" instead the whole fight was against cancer. On the hospital bed he became a different man , a man who started thinking about his life seriously. Luckily medically everything went fine with him but his determination was crucial for his survival. But the battle against cancer had just begun.
It took a lot of effort to convince him that he could race again. At one stage he lost it completely and resorted to drinking beer and food . But friends and family played their part and he started again. A practice session changed it all and he believed it was coming back. He practised hard and went on to win the toughest race "Tour De France" I tell you this is one book that is a must read.

To quote a paragraph from the book,"I had learned what it means to ride The Tour De France. It's not about the bike. It's a metaphor for life, not only the longest race in the world but also most exalting and heartbreaking and potentially tragic. It poses every conceivable element to the rider, and more : cold, heat , mountains , planes ,flat tires, high winds, unthinkable beauty, yawning ,senselessness, and above all greed . During our life we are placed with so many setbacks, and fight such a hand to hand battle with failure , head down in the rain , just try to stay upright and have a little hope. The Tour is not just a bike race it tests you physically , it tests you mentally , and even tests you morally.

I also Watched some videos and here goes a link to one of those : http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=-JADUnW1VvE

I don't know what to say, but I will say one thing. If one says that he have been working very hard and not achieving anything, just try comparing for a short while with what he had to do.

The review goes as motivating as the book :). Yeah the book is really an eye opener. I think not everything one can have and learn in life, but these are some of the true stories that may change your outlook for life completely.
